Mardi Gras Food & Music Celebration

Today is Mardi Gras in New Orleans, however I live in rural North Carolina now. Celebrating the best parts of Mardi Gras here is not hard, if you agree like me that the best things are the food, music and costumes. While I have no problems going out in public dressed up when no one else is, I do have a problem going out in near freezing weather. Since it's 33 degrees outside, I'll have to settle for eating and dancing.

Here is a list of my favorite Mardi Gras/New Orleans songs:

Big Chief - Professor Longhair
They All Asked for You - the Meters
City of New Orleans - Arlo Guthrie
Walkin' to New Orleans - Fats Domino
Hey Pocky Away - the Meters
Carnival Time - Al Johnson
Mardi Gras Mambo - the Hawketts
Take Me to the Mardi Gras - Paul Simon
Jockomo - Sugarboy Crawford

Our Menu Today:
Breakfast - Vegan Pain Perdu
Lunch - French Fry PoBoy with Mushroom Gravy
Dinner - Red Beans & Rice, with Vegan Dad's Veggie Sausage
Desert - Vegan King Cake, using this recipe
